Frank Healey's Stone
West Side on the Low End of Pond Street
Reverend Frank Healey was originally from Barre, Vermont, and lived in Ellsworth in the late 1800s. He acted as a minister of the Ellsworth Unitarian Church in 1889 and 1890. We believe the cottage, which sits amongst the trees to the northeast of this stone, encompasses the tiny cottage he once stayed in while serving Camp Etna.
This stone is just off Pond Street between the last two cottages on the left at the very end of the road. This road continues as a path to Little Etna Pond. Frank Healey was a minister and served Camp Etna for many years. Some believe he lived in the now-renovated cottage in the field behind the stone. When this cottage was renovated, they left the original, very tiny cottage intact on the inside.
One day, Rosy D’elia and Diane were walking over to the Frank Healey Stone. Diane moved some brush out of the way so they could walk up onto it.

“Do you know who this man was?” asked Rosy.
“I know he was a minister from a coastal area.”
Rosy took a deep breath. She said, “He lived in a cottage very close to here.”
I pointed to the cottage behind us on Sunset Circle, and she said, “No. It was a very tiny cottage right here,” as she pointed to the same house I had indicated.
“Well, there is a very tiny cottage on that spot, inside that bigger cottage. We aren’t sure who owned it yet, but since his stone is here, it would be a logical place for him to live.”
She asked if we could see the inside, and I brought her to my brother-in-law’s family cottage. He was there and let her in, and she saw the old tiny house roof line. “Yes. This is it."
