The photo on the sign was taken August 23, 1930. Pictured on the far left is Florence Hawes, one of our camp's early workers. The four grandchildren of Mary Drake Jenne pictured from left to right are Harold Jenne Junior, Delana Jenne, Dorothy Jenne and Mary Jenne, all grandchildren of Mary Drake Jenne.

This cottage nestled down in the corner behind the Temple has been home to many interesting ESA members. Quite honestly, this author finds most every Camp Etna member quite interesting and as we all are, very unique.

Some say that Mary Drake Jenne lived in Loyalty Lodge for a while. At this point our records are incomplete as far as cottage owners throughout the years but Mary may have lived there in 1922 while her new home at 11 Field St. was being built. That could have only happened if Loyalty Lodge was not burnt in the fire. We may have to change this write up as more facts are found.

We do know that Clyde Woodard lived in this Loyalty Lodge cottage in 1983. He was a lover of opera and would sit in his wheelchair in the doorway and sing opera to a record album playing on his porch and could be heard all around the camp.

The most recent colorful residents of Loyalty Lodge, The Grants, moved in during 1990 and left in 2025. Dwight and Arlene Grant were such interesting characters that our dear friend Mira Ptacin included the interview she did with Arlene in her book titled The In-Betweens; The Spiritualists, Mediums and Legends of Camp Etna, available on Amazon. Arlene could be heard throughout the camp quite easily as she yelled for her husband, Dwight, to come for dinner. She was not singing operatically but her voice still rings in many camp residents' ears.
